Albert Leonard DeGeorge

May 8, 1924 ~ June 11, 2015 (age 91) 91 Years Old


            Mr. Albert L. DeGeorge, 91, of Milford MA, died Thursday (June 11, 2015) at Whitcomb House in Milford MA after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Josephine L. (Tobio) DeGeorge.

 

            Mr. DeGeorge was born in New Mexico ME, the son of the late Umberto and the late Elizabeth (Uzi) DeGeorge. He was a resident of Milford for most of his life and initially operated the family chicken farm on Haven Street in Milford. He later worked for the US postal service in Needham MA for 20 years. He also ran the concession stand at the Grafton Flea Market for many years.

 

            Mr. DeGeorge was involved as a volunteer  with the cub scouts and with the Boy Scouts for 50 years. He was the founder of the cub scouts “Olympics” in Milford and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award from the cub scouts. He was also the recipient of the Highlanders Outstanding Man of the Year in 1982.

 

He was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and was the recipient of a 20 year service award from the Bishop of Worcester for his work in charity & education. He was also an avid Red Sox fan who loved watching baseball, gardening & his work.

 

            Along with his beloved wife, he is survived by 2 Sons: Leonard DeGeorge and his wife Jane of South Yarmouth MA and Albert “Chick” DeGeorge and his wife Patricia of Milford MA;  4 Grandchildren: Adrienne DeGeorge, Tara (DeGeorge) Samito and her husband James, Leonard DeGeorge Jr., and Erin (DeGeorge) Davis and her husband Ross; 5 Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother: Pasquale DeGeorge of Needham MA; his best friend: Harry Peters and a special thanks to his friend: Bob DeVita.

 

            Mr. DeGeorge was the grandfather of the late Rene DeGeorge.

 

            Private Funeral Services will be held from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA with a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. 

 

            In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Why Me & Sherry’s House, 1152 Pleasant Street, Worcester MA 01602.
