Charles earned the nickname of “Chic” at a young age because he had an older uncle named Charles. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Syracuse University, “Chic” started his legal career as an assistant district attorney in Bucks County, PA and later worked at Smith, Mountenay, Mims & Wilson before he headed up his own firm, Charles S. "Chic" served in the Army of the United States from June 1946 thru November 1947 in Japan as part of the Allied occupation of Japan. He received the Army of Occupation Medal and WWII Victoria Medal.

“Chic” and his lovely wife, Marian loved living in Bucks County. They especially enjoyed nature and riding horses with their five children. They both had a love of art, architecture, astronomy, theatre and historic homes which they shared with their family. “Chic” was athletic and loved to play tennis, swim and take long walks with family members and his beloved standard poodles.

They enjoyed vacationing in the Florida Keys and retired to Sugar Loaf Key where they lived for almost a decade. For four years, they travelled from the Keys to Wellesley Island for the summer and fall months.
