Dr. George F. May Jr.

April 27, 1934 ~ July 20, 2015 (age 81) 81 Years Old


            Dr. George F. May Jr., 81, of Uxbridge MA, died Monday (July 20, 2015) at his residence after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Geraldine “Geri” (Alger) May.

 

            Dr. May was born in West Haven CT, the son of the late George F. May and the late Eloise M. (Pfaff) May. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in West Haven CT. He attended Notre Dame University in South Bend IN and was a graduate of Providence College, where he received his bachelor’s degree. He also was a graduate of New York Medical School in New York City, where he received his medical degree.

 

            Dr. May was a US Navy veteran and had been a resident of Uxbridge MA since 1968. Prior to that he had resided in West Haven CT and North Kingston RI.

 

            Dr. May was licensed to practice medicine in both Massachusetts and Connecticut. He had practiced medicine as an orthopedic surgeon for over forty years, thirty-six of those years in Milford.

 

            Dr. May was a longtime member of the Milford Rotary Club; a member of the Italian-American Club of Uxbridge and a founding member of the Milford Assistance Program. He was blessed with a great sense of humor and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a sports enthusiast who loved his pet dogs and also loved playing cards with his friends. He also loved tending to his garden and his many apple trees.

 

            Along with his beloved wife, he is survived by his Children: Kathleen A Nugent., wife of Todd Nugent of Marlboro MA, Retired Col. George F. May III (USAF) of Mobile AL, Bonnie May Halstead of Milford MA and Jeffrey P. May and his wife Deborah of Uxbridge MA; his Step-Sons: Jeffrey R. Fafard and Peter H. Fafard of Framingham MA; his Grandchildren: Jaclyn, Thomas, Michael, Emily, Grace, Paul, Anna, Brianna, Lexi, Ryan, Christopher and Kenny; 1 Great Grandson: Luca; his Brothers: Dennis P. May and his wife Roseanne of CT and Warren L. May and his wife Marybeth of MA; also nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Patricia A. May.

 

            His funeral, with Military Honors, will be held Monday (July 27, 2015) at 10am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Good Shepherd Church, 121 Linwood Street, Linwood MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Uxbridge MA. Visiting hours will be Sunday (July 26th) from 2pm to 5pm. Please visit www.edwardsmemorialfuneralhome.com for condolence book.
