Grace Marie (DeMattia) Nealon

Mrs. Grace M. (DeMattia) Nealon, 95, of Milford MA, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening (December 19, 2017) at Countryside Healthcare of Milford. Grace was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Nealon, who died in 1981.

Grace was born to Peter and Filomena DeMattia. She was pre-deceased by her brother Noah DeMattia and her sister, Filomena Brewer.

Grace is survived by her daughter, Judy Brown and her husband Jonathan of Hopedale MA. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Peggy Hale, wife of Robert Hale of Athens GA. She will be sadly missed by her granddaughter, Kristen Poisson and her husband Paul of Hopedale MA, and two grandsons, Joseph Hale and his wife Paige, and Ryan Hale and his wife Jamie, all of Athens GA. She was the great grandmother of eight great grandchildren: Miles, Grace, and Eva Poisson of Hopedale MA and Vivian, Emily, Charlie, Henry and Virginia Hale of Athens GA.

Grace was a graduate of Milford High School. She was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s Parish in Milford and a former member of the St. Mary’s Women’s Club. She worked alongside her late husband Joe in his accounting practice for many years.

Grace enjoyed many summers at the family cottage in Dennis on Cape Cod. She most enjoyed time spent with her family and was a wonderful Italian cook. She will be dearly remembered by her nine nieces and seven nephews. At this time Grace’s family would like to thank the staff at Countryside Healthcare, where she had been a resident for many years, for the loving care they provided.

Her funeral will be held Friday (December 29th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at  10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Friday morning (December 29th) from 8:30am to 9:30am, prior to her Funeral Mass.
