Herbert W. Loftus

Mr. Herbert W. Loftus,  87, of Mansfield MA and formerly of Milford MA and Beverly Hills FL, died Thursday evening (April 28, 2016) at his residence after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Helen G. (Logan) Loftus, who died in 2009.

Mr. Loftus was born in Boston, the son of the late Albert J. and the late Theresa (McManus) Loftus. He attended public schools in Boston as a young boy and served as a WW II US Army veteran. Following his military service he attended Burdette College.

Mr. Loftus then began a long career in the banking industry, first working as the head teller at the former Shawmut Bank, and as a computer programmer at the Framingham Trust Company, the former Bank of Boston, now Bank of America, and finally at Factory Mutual.

Mr. Loftus had been a member of the New England Club and also the Men’s Club while residing in Beverly Hills FL. He had returned to Massachusetts in 2013.

Mr. Loftus is survived by 2 Sons: Mark P. Loftus and his wife Victoria of Savannah GA and Alan J. Loftus and his wife Tammy of Mansfield MA; 4 Grandchildren: Jacquan, Teresa, Melissa and John Paul. He was the father of the late Teresa E. Loftus, who died in 1977.

His funeral, with Military Honors, will be held Wednesday (May 4th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1PM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Wednesday (May 4th) from 11:30AM to 12:30PM, prior to his Funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P O Box #1000, Dept #142, Memphis TN 38101.
