John E. Gibson

September 1, 1928 ~ February 13, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old


Mr. John E. Gibson, 88, of Mendon MA died Monday (February 13, 2017) at the Milford Regional Medical Center shortly after admittance. He was the beloved husband of Helen A. (Homand) Gibson.

 

Mr. Gibson was born in Hopedale MA, the son of the late Ward and the late Audrey (MacDonald) Gibson. He attended Hopedale public schools and then served in the US Merchant Marine during WW II.

 

Mr. Gibson was first employed as a young man at the former Draper Corporation located in Hopedale MA. He also was employed at the Hopedale Highway Department. He later owned & operated Gibson Septic Services company for over thirty years. He also served as a member of the board of health for the Town of Mendon. Mr. Gibson also owned & operated Milford Concrete Pipe and had also worked as a modular home dealer for the greater Milford area.

 

Mr. Gibson was a founding member of the Massachusetts Association of Septic Systems. He and his beloved wife had wintered in Florida for the past thirty-five years.

 

Along with his beloved wife of 70 years, he is survived by his 6 children: Roseanna, wife of Michael J. Elliot of Mendon MA, Brenda, wife of Terry Daniels of Mendon MA, John J. Gibson and his wife Lucinda of Millville MA, Alfred E. Gibson and his wife Kimberly of Uxbridge MA, Robert E. Gibson and his wife Carol of Mendon MA and Maryhelen, wife of Timothy Morancy of East Waterboro ME; 15 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; 1 Sister: Joanne Thomas of Bellingham MA; also many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by 2 sisters and 1 brother.

 

Private Funeral Services will be held Friday (February 17th) at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA, with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery in Mendon MA. Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday (February 16th) from 5pm to 8pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
