Leonella "Lea" (Colelli) Colelli-Volpe

Mrs. Leonella “Lea” Colelli-Volpe, 94, of Milford MA died Friday (March 23, 2018) at Countryside Healthcare of Milford after a period of declining health.

            Mrs. Volpe was born in Campo di Giovi, Italy the daughter of the late Mario and the late Emilia (Imperatore) Colelli. She was a graduate of Perry Township High School in Perryopolis PA. She also was a graduate of Franklin Commercial College in Connellsville PA.

            Mrs. Volpe was first employed as a young woman for the US Selective Service System from 1944 to  1946. She then was employed at the H. J. Heinz Company located in Pittsburgh PA from 1946 to 1948. After moving to Milford MA, she had been employed at the Robert Costa Construction Company of Milford MA from 1955 to 1963. She then assisted her former husband in the operations of the J. Volpe & Son construction company. And finally had been employed at The Baby Place located in Natick MA from 1986 to 1999.

            Mrs. Volpe was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford and had served as vice-president of the church’s Rosella Guild and had also served as a member of the church’s parish council. She had also served as a President of the former Quinnshipaug Woman’s Club in Milford. While residing in Pennsylvania she had served as President of the Roman Star Lodge of Perryopolis PA.

            Mrs. Volpe is survived by her 3 children: Camilla, wife of Albert Amandolare of Milford MA, Michael J. Volpe and his wife Bo of Watertown MA and Susan Kelly and her fiancé Larry Baker Jr. of Madbury NH; 6 Grandchildren: Bryan Amandolare and his wife Kristine, Chaela Volpe, Cristina Volpe and her fiancé Chris Jonns, Eric Volpe and his wife Nancy, Andrea Kelly and Emily Kelly; 5 Great Grandchildren: Anthony and Alexa Amandolare, Mila Jonns, Kaius and Josephina Volpe.

            Mrs. Volpe was the former wife of the late Joseph L. Volpe and the mother of the late Katherine F. Volpe. She was also the sister of the late Leonard Colelli, the late Alfio Colelli and the late Camillo Colelli.

            Her funeral will be held Friday (March 30th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Liturgy of the Word at 10am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (UPPER CHURCH), 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Thursday (March 29th) from 5pm to 8pm.
