Michael R. Penney

            Mr. Michael R. “Smitty” Penney, 56, of Milford MA, died Saturday (May 16, 2015) at the UMASS Medical Center in Worcester MA.

            Mr. Penney was born in San Diego CA, the son of the late Jerry C. Smith and the son of Carole (Shipman) Smith of Lakeside CA. He was a graduate of El Capitain High School in Lakeside CA, Class of 1977.

            Mr. Penney had been a resident of Milford for over 25 years and had been employed at BP Trucking Company where he had worked as a driver and more recently as manager of the parts department and at their transfer station.

            Mr. Penney was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member of the Nipmuc Rod & Gun Club for over 20 years. He had also served in the Army National Guard.

            Along with his beloved mother, he is survived by 1 Daughter: Deanna Penney of Milford MA;    1 Sister: Denise, wife of Jeffrey Hardick of Lakeside CA; 2 Nieces: Taylor Marie and Hayley Nicole of Lakeside CA; his longtime companion: Melissa Knight and her children, Michaela and Mackenzie of Milford MA; also many friends, including Tony Arena of Milford MA.

            In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. There are no funeral home visiting hours. A Celebration of his Life will be held Tuesday (May 19th) at 3pm at the Nipmuc Rod & Gun Club, 88 Fiske Mill Road, Upton MA. Donations in his memory may be made to the Nipmuc Rod & Gun Club.
