Norma C. (Manna) Atwood

Mrs. Norma C. (Manna) Atwood, 93, of Milford MA, died Tuesday (January 9, 2018) surrounded by her loving family at Westborough Healthcare after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife for 55 years of the late Howard G. Atwood, who died in 2002.

Mrs. Atwood was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Nicola and the late Dora (Borghi) Manna. She attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1942. She had been employed at the former Winchell Shoe Company located in Natick MA for forty years, retiring in 1980, to help take care of her grandchildren.

Mrs. Atwood had been a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and had served as a Eucharistic minister. She also was a longtime member and past-president of the Sacred Heart Womens Club. She also was a longtime member of the Lawrence J. Heron DAV Post Ladies Auxilliary and the Medway VFW Ladies Auxilliary.

Norma’s large family was the love of her life and she leaves to them memories of her great love of family, her wonderful humor and her incredible strength.

Mrs. Atwood is survived by her 5 daughters: Doreen, and her husband Alan Smith of Milford MA, Janet and her husband Barry Carmen of Clearwater FL, Judith Hanlon of Wareham MA, Jacqueline, and her husband Joseph Pratt Jr. of Milford MA and Robin and her husband John “Jack” McCarthy of Holliston MA. She was “Noni” to her beloved 13 grandchildren: Wendy Davis, Lisa Tamagni, Lauren Smith, Kendra MacArthur, Daniel Hanlon, Heidi MacCurtain, Erin Curley, Patrick Curley, Jodie Tandy, Jenna Pratt, Ryan McCarthy, Thomas McCarthy and Ian McCarthy. She is also survived by 22 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister: Pauline Gallerane and her husband Robert and also her brother: Nicholas Manna and his wife Grace. Also leaves numerous nieces & nephews.

Mrs. Atwood was the sister of the late Daniel Manna and the mother-in-law of the late Peter Hanlon.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday (January 16th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main Street, Milford MA.
