Samuel V. Longo

October 10, 1923 ~ November 27, 2016 (age 93) 93 Years Old


Mr. Samuel V. Longo, 93, of Milford MA, died Sunday (November 27, 2016) at Genesis Healthcare-Milford Center after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy E. (Sullivan) Longo.

 

Mr. Longo was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Rosario and the late Rosalia (Tomaso) Longo and he attended Milford public schools. As a young man he was first employed at the former Lish Hat Shop located in Framingham MA.

 

Mr. Longo was a WW II US Army veteran having served in the European theatre. Following his tour of duty in the US Army he was employed for over twenty years as a postal worker at the Milford post office.

 

Mr. Longo loved to play billiards and also loved to swim, always willing to teach family members how to swim. He was an excellent cook and also loved his trips to Atlantic City. But most of all, he loved spending time with his many family members.

 

Mr. Longo’s family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care from the caring staff of Genesis Healthcare.

 

Along with his beloved wife of 67 years, he is survived by his 3 Children: Samuel V. Longo Jr. and his wife Andrea of Milford MA; Suzanne, wife of Francis “Andy” Anderson of Milford MA and Daniel M. Longo of New York City, NY;  6 Grandchildren: Kristin A., wife of John Fletcher of Milford MA, Kerrie, wife of Greg Allegrezza of Milford MA, Kate A., wife of Joe Erwin of Milford MA, S. Kevin Longo and his wife Rebecca of Melrose MA, Keith A. Longo and his wife Lisa of Los Angeles CA and Riley D. Longo of New York City NY; 6 Great Grandchildren: Madison O. Fletcher, Andrew F. Fletcher, Esme M. Longo, Harper R. Allegrezza, Andy G. Erwin and Griffin R. Longo; 1 Sister: Ninfa, wife of Robert Marelli of Hopedale MA; also many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by eight siblings.

 

His funeral, with Military Honors, will be held Thursday (December 1st) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Wednesday (November 30th) from 4pm to 7pm. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Division of Development, 10 Brookline Place West, Floor 6, Brookline MA 02445.
