Mrs. Elizabeth R. (Russell) Bird, 76, of Milford MA, died Monday morning (July 16, 2012) at the Milford Care & Rehabilitation Center after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Michael Bird, who died in 2011.

Mrs. Bird was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Harold and the late Anne (Joyce) Russell. She was a graduate of Uxbridge High Scholl, Class of 1953. She was also a graduate of St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing and at the age of fifty received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Assumption College.

Mrs. Bird was first employed as a registered nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester and later at Milford Hospital. She was last employed as a school nurse at Middle School East in Milford.

Mrs. Bird is survived by her 3 Sons: James Bird and his wife Susan of Millville MA, John Bird and his wife Michele of Milford MA and Thomas Bird and his wife Michelle of Hopedale MA; 7 Grandchildren: Sarah, Connor, Nicholas, Lauren, Alexandra, Abigail and Zoe; 1 Brother: Thomas Russell of Milford MA; also several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday (July 18th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Tuesday (July 17th) from 5pm to 8pm.

Betty. I"ll never forget taking your fathers car every afternoon after school and cruising around Whitinsville and our trips to Olivos beach every Sunday. I'll remember your funny stories when we all got together. and the first time you met Mike. You picked the right one. I'll miss you. Rest in peace with Mike.
