Karen Elizabeth (Hurley) Kiijambu

Mrs. Karen E. (Hurley) Kijjambu, 68, of Milford MA died Thursday (February 8, 20024) at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester MA after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Benjamin Walter Kijjambu.

Karen was born in Boston MA, the daughter of the late Robert H. Hurley and the late Jeanne A. (Barker) Hurley. She attended high school in Weston CT, graduating in 1974. She later received her certification in CNA (Certified Nurse Associate) certification from the Red Cross.

Karen was first employed as a property manager for residents & yachts in Fort Lauderdale FL for about 25 years. She later moved to Massachusetts, living in Upton MA, and had worked with dementia patients in Massachusetts. She also had worked for Walgreens Pharmacy.

Karen had met her husband Ben, while residing in Upton MA and had just moved to Milford MA in April 2023 when she became ill.

Karen had many varied interests, including interior decorating, boating, reading, watching football, sailing, and also loved to write personal notes & giving gifts to her family members & many friends.

Along with her beloved husband, she is survived by her 3 siblings: Deborah Ann Hurley of Upton MA and Roberta Jeanne Hurley of Essex CT and Robert H. Hurley Jr. of Sydney Australia; her aunt: Elizabeth Perrin of Falmouth MA; her cousin: Jeanne Escobar and her husband Richard of North Falmouth MA; her cousin Marcia Bridgeman and her husband Roger of Sharon MA; her cousin: Andrea Alexander and her husband Tom of East Falmouth MA; her sister-in-law: Poira Hadijah of Milford MA; her sister-in-law: Dembe Sophie of Milford MA; her mother-in-law: Angela Nabukalu of Entebbe Uganda; her brother-in-law: Henry Migade of Milford MA; her brother-in-law: Anthony Musoke of Worcester MA; her niece: Shamim Lubwana and her husband Joshua of Lakeland FL; her niece: Kismat Amira of Milford MA; her sister-in-law: Caroline Nyonjo of Kampala Uganda; her sister-in-law: Evelyn Nyonjo of Kampala Uganda; her brother-in-law: Ibra Mutebi of Seattle WA and her sister-in-law: Lillian Nyonjo of UK; her brother-in-law: Simon Nyonjo of Kampala Uganda; her sister-in-law: Monica Freeman of Milford MA; her brother-in-law: Davis Kayilra of Burlington MA and her sister-in-law: Lydia Nyonjo of Kampala Uganda..

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. A Celebration of her Life will be held Saturday (April 20th) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA.
