Arthur Taylor Obituary

Mr. Arthur P. Taylor, 64, of Grafton MA and formerly of North Reading MA, died Saturday (October 5, 2019) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Heidi R. (Lomker) Taylor.

Arthur & Heidi had a warm and wonderful marriage for the past thirty-five years. They owned a home in Grafton MA for the past twenty-three years, where they enjoyed their time together. Their mutual love of animals meant that they had several pets over the years, mostly dogs, including their current Golden Labrador, “Boomer”.

Arthur was born in Melrose MA, the son of the late Ashton B. and the late Phyllis A. (Hennessey) Taylor. He was a graduate of North Reading High School, Class of 1972.

After serving in the US Marine Corps from 1976 to 1979 he began a successful career in the computer industry. Arthur spent over twenty years in the computer industry where he focused on computer networking and telecommunications. His technical skills and his US Marine Corps experience served him well for one particular role as he traveled to many of the world's hot spots (Middle East, South America) to install and troubleshoot secure communications systems.

Arthur had many stories of situations where he would need to use cash to “buy” his passport back from “customs” agents in Columbia or some other country in order to get back home.

Arthur took these challenges in stride. He was a man with an open mind who would quickly size up a situation to realize the path that needed to be taken to achieve his goal. He was a kind man who was likely to make a joke and laugh to diffuse a situation.

As a younger man Arthur was a hockey player. Having grown up in Massachusetts during the Bobby Orr era, Arthur played hockey every chance he got. Arthur played countless hours of pond hockey with his brothers and neighborhood friends on the “swamp” in the woods behind his family home in North Reading MA. As he got older there were many nights playing pick-up games at the rinks in Wilmington MA & Billerica MA.

Arthur was also an avid golfer and would make trips to visit his father and step-mother in South Carolina to enjoy golf with his father. He was an avid Boston Bruins fan and NE Patriots fan.

Along with his beloved wife of thirty-five years, he is survived by his step-mother: Jeannine Taylor of Fripp Island SC; 4 siblings: Bruce Taylor of Reno NV, Martha Taylor of Verona NJ, Andrea Taylor of New York City NY and Sam Taylor of Merrimack NH; also several nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Charles Taylor, who died in 1996.

In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA
