Cheryl M. (Demers) Prokopis, 55, of Milford MA, died Monday (July 1, 2019) at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston MA after a courageous battle with cancer.
Cheryl was born in Cherry Point NC, the daughter of Robert A. and Margaret A. (Spillane) Demers. She was a graduate of Pope John XXIII High School in Sparta NJ, Class of 1982 and attained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah, Class of 1986.
Cheryl was first employed as a young woman as a flight attendant for US Air. She then spent many years as a devoted mother, raising her three children. More recently, she had been employed as an LPN at Genesis Healthcare in Milford MA.
Cheryl loved to dance and play yahtze, and even loved her job. But most of all she loved being a mother and raising her family.
Cheryl is survived by her 3 children: Emily A. Prokopis, Grant T. Prokopis and Mitchell R. Prokopis, all of Milford MA; her parents: Robert & Margaret of Double Oak TX; 2 brothers: Jeffrey Demers and his wife Jacqueline and Peter Demers and his wife Catherine, all of Flower Mound TX; several aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews; and her longtime significant other: Marc R. Carpentier of Woonsocket RI.
Her funeral will be held Saturday (July 6th) at 11am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 NOON in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. In accordance with her wishes cremation will follow. Visiting hours will be held Friday (July 5th) from 6pm to 8pm.
