Edward Larkin Obituary

Mr. Edward D. Larkin, 82, of Milford MA, a prominent Milford area realtor, died Wednesday (February 7, 2018) surrounded by family at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston MA after an illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (Cameron) Carty-Larkin, who died in 2014.

 

Mr. Larkin was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Francis E. and the late Gertrude (Driscoll) Larkin. He was a graduate of the former St. Mary’s High School and also a graduate of the University of Connecticut.

 

Mr. Larkin was a Korean Conflict veteran having served in the US Army. Following his service in the US Army he began his accomplished career in real estate, working in the family business, the Larkin Company Realtors. Edward spent many years as the owner and manager for the family real estate company. He was also an accomplished licensed real estate appraiser and auctioneer. He also had received certification in his field of endeavor from the Harvard Business School.

 

Mr. Larkin was a member of the Massachusetts Realtors Association, the Milford Chamber of Commerce, the Italian-American Veterans Post of Milford and a former member of the American Legion.

 

Mr. Larkin loved to spend time with family.  He enjoyed travel and took several trips to Europe and Ireland. He also liked to sing, especially Irish songs and enjoyed cooking. He was an avid Boston sports fan and former season ticket holder of the New England Patriots.  He also loved cars and keeping up with current events and technology trends.

 

Mr. Larkin is survived by 1 Son: Edward Larkin and his wife Laura of Fuquay Varina NC; 1 Daughter: Dana M. Larkin of Charlestown MA;  3 Step-Children: Janet Sefakis and her husband John of Uxbridge MA, Mary Sherlock and her husband Brian of Uxbridge MA and James Carty and his wife Dr. Deanna Carty of Sweden ME; 11 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother: the Honorable Francis J. Larkin and his wife Virginia of Hopedale MA; 1 Sister-in-law: Nancy Larkin of Mendon MA; also many nieces & nephews. Mr. Larkin was the brother of the late James Larkin.

 

His funeral, with Military Honors, will be held Tuesday (February 13th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Monday (February 12th) from 4pm to 7pm.
