Mrs. Gertrude E. (Warren) Callery, 89, of Hopedale MA died Wednesday (August 22, 2018) at Countryside Healthcare of Milford after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late John P. Callery, who died in 1983.
Mrs. Callery was born in Millis MA, the daughter of the late Charles J. and the late Florence E. (Heath) Warren. She attended Millis public schools and was first employed as a young woman in a hat factory located in Milford. And after her marriage she began her favorite job, being a devoted wife and mother.
Mrs. Callery had been a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale. She loved to bake and listen to big band music.
Mrs. Callery is survived by her 4 Children: Joanne Maurer, wife of the late Kenneth Maurer of Douglas MA, Jeanne, wife of Peter Manca of Sterling MA, John C. Callery and his wife Maureen of Attleboro MA and Michael P. Callery of North Grafton MA; 8 Grandchildren: Kelly Maurer and her companion Andrew Ringwood of Brooklyn NY, Scott Maurer and his wife Alicia of Southbridge MA, Peter J. Manca III and his wife Caitlin of Boston MA, Andrew W. Manca of Charlotte NC, Rachel A. Manca of Sterling MA, Daniel Callery, Joseph Callery and Rebecca Callery of Attleboro MA; 1 Great Grandchild: Kenneth H. Maurer of Southhbridge MA; 1 Sister: Margaret Kell of Millis MA; also several nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Callery was the sister of the late Charles Warren, the late George Warren and the late Florence Eddy.
Her funeral will be held Monday (August 27th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale MA. Burial will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday (August 26th) from 5pm to 7pm.
