James Vincent Parente

Mr. James V. Parente, 97, of Milford MA, died Thursday (August 2, 2018) at the Webster Manor Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Webster MA after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Anna (Oneschuk) Parente.

Mr. Parente was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Leonardo and the late Maria (Calzone) Parente. He attended Milford public schools and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1939. He was a WW II US Army veteran.

Mr. Parente was first employed as a young man at the Whitin Machine Works located in Whitinsville MA and at Stone’s Furniture Store in Milford MA. He later was employed at the former Pio’s Flooring Store located in Milford, as well as other flooring contractors in the greater Milford area, which led to him owning & operating Parente Floor Covering in Milford for about 15 years. Following that he was employed as an appraiser for the former Home National Bank of Milford and was a home building contractor in Milford.

Mr. Parente was a member & past-president of the Milford Builders Association; a member of the Milford Kiwanis Club and also a member of the Italian-American Veterans Post of Milford.

Mr. Parente loved spending time at Cape Cod, where he loved to clam, quahog, make his famous chowder & play cards. But, most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Along with his beloved wife of 75 years, he is survived by his 2 Daughters: Barbara A. Brassor of Mendon MA and Marcia J. Parchesky of Milford MA; 3 Granddaughters: Sandra A. Parente Wish, wife of Peter Wish of Milford MA, Lori J. Tenenholtz, wife of Aron Tenenholtz of Attleboro MA and Amy J. Young, wife of Zachary Young of Attleboro MA; 3 Great Granddaughters: Olivia Tenenholtz, Charlote Young and Madelyn Young;

1 Sister-in-law: Verna Parente of Milford MA; also several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews & cousins.

Mr. Parente was the brother of the late Leo Parente and the late Pauline Murzycki. He was the father-in-law of the late David Brassor and the late James Parchesky.

Funeral Services, with Military Honors, will be held Tuesday (August 7th) at 1PM at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Vernon Grove Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday (August 7th) from 11AM to 1PM at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to his Funeral Service.
