Jean Marie (Gritte) Darling

Mrs. Jean M. (Gritte) Darling, 85, of Milford MA passed peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease on Sunday July 2, 2017, which would have been her and her late husband’s 68th wedding anniversary. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest “Red” L. Darling, who died in 2002.

Mrs. Darling was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Albert and the late Jennie (Carini) Gritte. She attended Milford public schools and had been employed as a hairdresser for 45 years at Studio D Salon located in Holliston MA, retiring in 2005.

Mrs. Darling was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She had been an active member of the Milford Town Democratic Committee for 40 years and had served as their treasurer. She was also a member of the former Milford Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Italian-American Veterans Post Ladies Auxiliary. She also was a member and past treasure of the Owlette Club. Mrs. Darling also enjoyed camping & traveling with her late husband.

Mrs. Darling is survived by her 2 Daughters: Sheila M. Anderson of Sandwich MA and Denise M. Lambos of Edgartown MA; 5 Grandchildren: Jennifer Dias, Peter Lambos, Michelle Epstein, Brian Lambos and Matthew Ardito; also 8 Great Grandchildren.

Mrs. Darling was the sister of the late Robert Gritte, the late Albert Gritte and the late Donald Gritte.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday (July 12th) at 12 NOON at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Wednesday (July 12th) from 11am to 12 Noon, prior to her funeral services.
