Mr. John R. Kennelly Jr., 90, of Milford MA, died Friday evening (November 23, 2018) at Countryside Healthcare of Milford after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn E. (Lamperti) Kennelly.
Mr. Kennelly was born in Milford MA, the son of the late John and the late Anna (Morgan) Kennelly. He was a graduate of the former St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1946.Following his tour of service in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict he began his longtime career working for the New England Telephone Company, from which he retired in 1990.
Mr. Kennelly was a longtime communicant of St. Mar of the Assumption Church and was a longtime member and past-president of the NE telephone Pioneers Club. He also was an avid Boston Red Sox & NE Patriots fan.
Along with his beloved wife of sixty-three years, he is survived by his 4 children: John R. Kennelly III and his wife Donna of Hopedale MA, Carol A., wife of Craig Colpitts of Milford MA, Patricia E., wife of Alan Lucier of Upton MA and Marianne, wife of Thomas von Jess of North Hampton NH; 6 grandchildren: Matthew Kennelly, Meghan Kennelly, Spencer Colpitts, Griffin Colpitts, Jonathan Lucier and Gabrielle von Jess; 2 sisters: Elizabeth “Betty-Anne”, wife of Philip Morin of Milford MA and Janice Kennelly of Milford MA; 1 brother-in-law: Lawrence Bonetti and his wife Jean of Uxbridge MA; also several nieces & nephews. Mr. Kennelly was the brother of the late Brenda Bonetti.
His funeral, with Military Honors, will be held Wednesday (November 28th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Tuesday (November 27th) from 5pm to 8pm.
