Josephine M. (Gala) Lake

Mrs. Josephine M. (Gala) Lake, 91, of Uxbridge MA and formerly of Milford MA died Monday evening (March 13, 2017) at Milford Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph W. Lake, who died in 1959.

Mrs. Lake was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Leonardo and the late Maria (Scala) Gala. She attended Milford public schools as a young girl and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1942.

Mrs. Lake was first employed as a young woman at the Bickford Shoe Company. She later was employed for nineteen years at the former Cushing Hospital located in Framingham MA.

Mrs. Lake was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford MA. She loved to go dancing as a young woman and also loved to entertain her family members and many friends. She took great pride in fulfilling her longtime dream of owning a retirement home on Cape Cod and also owning a home in Port Charlotte FL.

Mrs. Lake is survived by her daughter: Rosemary, wife of John Olson of Uxbridge MA and with whom she resided the past ten years; 5 grandchildren: Justin Lake of Milford MA, Matthew Lake and his wife Magen of Douglas MA, Jonathan Lake of Blackstone MA, Brian Flynn and his girlfriend Holli Robbins, who also served as Josephine's caregiver, of Uxbridge MA and Marissa Olson and her boyfriend Rineo Xhumari of Grafton MA; 7 great grandchildren: Cody Flynn, Tyler Flynn, Brady Flynn, Andrew Flynn, Haylee Lake, Riley Lake and Parker Poulin; 1 Brother: Mario Gala of Milford MA; also several nieces & nephews.

Mrs. Lake was the mother of the late triplets: Robert Lake, Ralph “Butchy” Lake and Ronald Lake; also the sister of the late Andrew Gala, the late Salvatore Gala and the late Leo Gala.

Her funeral will be held Friday (March 17th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in the Lower Chapel of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. In accordance with her wishes cremation will follow and a private committal service will be held at the convenience of the family at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be held Thursday (March 16th) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
