June J. (Mattos) Metcalf

Mrs. June J. (Mattos) Metcalf, 88, of Mendon MA and formerly of Hopedale MA and Dartmouth MA, died  Tuesday (August  27, 2019) at Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley MA after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert H. Metcalf, who died in 2013.

Mrs. Metcalf was born in Fall River MA, the daughter of the late Gustave and the late Dorothy (Fennelly) Mattos. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy, Class of 1949 and also attended the Katharine Gibbs School.

Mrs. Metcalf was first employed as a young woman for General Motors in Framingham MA. Later in life she was employed at the Gulf Hill Dairy Farm located in Dartmouth MA.  She had resided in Hopedale MA from 1960 to 1967 and in Dartmouth MA from 1967 to 2011.

While residing in Dartmouth MA she had served as a member of the Dartmouth Town Finance Committee and a Dartmouth town meeting member.

Mrs. Metcalf is survived by her two daughters: Nancy, wife of Leslie Stengel of Mendon MA and Jane Metcalf, wife of Stephen Wheeler of Irvine CA; also three granddaughters: Kylie Stengel of Hudson MA, Katie Stengel of Mendon MA and Stephanie Wheeler of Los Angeles CA.

In accordance with her wishes a Private Committal Services will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne MA at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours.
