Kathleen Ann (Richards) Gorman

Kathleen Ann (Richards) Gorman, 65,  of Blackstone MA died unexpectedly Thursday (June 22, 2017) at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket RI.

Kathy was born in Framingham MA, the daughter of Arthur P. Richards and Rita K. (Belland) Barbrie. She was a graduate of the former St. Mary’s Central Catholic High School, Class of 1969. She also attended Quinnsigamond Community College in Worcester.

Kathy was first employed at GAF Company located in Millis MA. After receiving her certification, she became a licensed optician working at Koch Eye Associates in Woonsocket RI and later at the Milford-Franklin Eye Center.

Kathy was a woman filled with love. She loved everyone she came in contact with, especially all of her family members, including her three dogs, Peanut, Gracie & George. She was a devoted daughter, caring for her mother Rita, who lived with her for many years. Her concern for her fellow mankind was exemplified even at the very end by her personal instructions to be an organ donor.

Kathy is survived by her father: Arthur P. Richards and his wife TC of Uxbridge MA; her mother: Rita K. (Belland) Barbrie of Blackstone MA; her sister: Maureen E., wife of Daniel Flamand of Webster MA; her nephew: James E. Kellett III of Boston MA, her niece: Kendra, wife of Brandon Starkus of Oxford MA, her grandnephew: Chase Starkus of Oxford MA; several aunts, uncles & cousins; also her longtime companion: John Downs of Blackstone MA and his children: Joe Dalton and his wife Laurie, John Downs Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, Chad Downs and his wife Stephanie, and Lindsey Downs; and grandchildren: Luke Dalton; Cameron, Boston, Sullivan, Ryan, Morgan & Emma Downs.

Kathy was the sister of the late David Richards who died in 1990.

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. Relatives & friends are invited to extend their condolences to her family on Wednesday (June 28th) from 4pm to 6pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Milford Humane Society, P O Box #171, Medway MA 02053.
