Mr. Louis E. Iannitelli, 96, of Milford MA, died Saturday evening (November 10, 2018) at the Rose Monahan Hospice House in Worcester MA after an illness. He was the beloved husband of Claire F. (Gallerani) Iannitelli, who died in 1999.
Mr. Iannitelli was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Ernest and the late Theresa (Gallissini) Iannitelli. He attended the former Sacred Heart parochial schools and was a graduate of Milford High School.
Mr. Iannitelli was a WW II US Army veteran having served in the European theatre. Following his military service he began a long career working as a postal worker for over thirty years at the Milford post office, from which he retired.
Mr. Iannitelli was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and was one of the original communicants involved in the construction of the church. He was also a longtime member of the local postal worker’s union and a longtime member of the Italian-American Veterans Post #40 of Milford.
Mr. Iannitelli loved making his occasional trips to the casino. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family members at their “Sunday pizza night”; and time at Old Orchard Beach in Maine.
Mr. Iannitelli is survived by his 2 Daughters; Karen, wife of John Fino of Milford MA and Donna, wife of Craig Leon of Northbridge MA; 4 Grandchildren: Jason DelSignore and his wife Colleen of Milford MA, Brian DelSignore of Uxbridge MA, David Leon of Westborough MA and Kevin Leon of Portland ME; 3 Great Grandchildren: Evan DelSignore, Sophia DelSignore and Jacob DeMonte; 1 Brother: Alex Iannitelli and his wife Beverly of West Bridgewater MA; 1 Sister: Mrs. Anna Iacovelli of Bellingham MA; also several nieces & nephews.
Mr. Iannitelli was the grandfather of the late Katie Leon and the brother of the late Mary Altieri, the late Pat Iannitelli and the late Phyllis Tocchi.
His funeral will be held Friday (November 16th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (UPPER CHURCH), 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Friday (November 16th) from 9:30am to 10:30am, prior to his Funeral Mass.
