Mr. Michael Alexander Berges Stewart, 22, of Uxbridge MA, died Wednesday (November 21, 2018) at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester MA after his long struggle with drug addiction.
Michael was born in Milford MA, the son of Michael T. Stewart and Margaret E. Berges. After attending various high schools, including Stoughton HS, Milford HS and the Family School in Hancock NY he attained his GED.
“Mikey” was a lover of history, video games and debating politics. He had a brilliant, insightful mind that could find humor in any situation. Mikey loved his family and friends fiercely and kept them laughing whenever he could. Mikey always stood up for people who couldn’t stand up for themselves. He believed in fairness and tolerance for all. He was a fighter who regrettably also struggled with a powerful addiction and mental illness. Through organ and tissue donation, Mikey continues to help others in death as he did in life.
He is survived by his mother: Margaret E. Berges and her wife Lauren Grasso of Sharon MA; his father: Michael T. Stewart and his wife Marie of San Antonio TX; his maternal grandparents: Myra Berges, David Berges and Debra Kendall; his paternal grandparents: Timothy & Mary Stewart, and Rose Willard; his brother: Thomas Stewart; his sister: Charley Grasso; also several aunts, uncles & cousins. He was the grandson of the late Russell Willard.
In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. A Private Celebration of his Life will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home of Milford MA.
