Romano "Ray" Zaccarino

December 26, 1920 ~ April 30, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old


Mr. Romano “Ray” Zaccarino, 96, of Woonsocket RI and formerly of Milford MA, died Sunday (April 30, 2017) at the Holiday Retirement Facility in Manville RI after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Loretta A. (Schiappucci) Zaccarino, who died in 2002.

 

Mr. Zaccarino was born in Italy the son of the late Antonio and the late Antoinette (Caputo) Zaccarino. He came to the United States at the age of sixteen, where he continued his education.

 

Following his tour of duty in the US Army during WW II, he was employed at the former Calzone Motors and the former Ryan Motors located in Milford MA, as an auto body repairman. He later owned & operated in partnership with Mr. Tony Niro, General Auto Body Shop, which was located in Milford MA.

 

Mr. Zaccarino was a WW II US Army veteran and was a longtime member of the Italian-American Veterans Post #40 of Milford; the DAV and the Foggiano Club of Milford. He was an avid gardener; loved listening to Italian music and also made his own wine until the age of 86.

 

Mr. Zaccarino is survived by 1 Daughter: Ann L., wife of Antonio Ferreira of Woonsocket RI;    1 Son: Raymond A. “Zack” Zaccarino and his wife Terece of Mendon MA; 3 Grandchildren: Janet Ferreira of Woonsocket RI, Matthew Zaccarino and his wife Elana Cazac of Milford MA and Jenna, wife of Taylor Moreno of Mendon MA; 2 Great Grandchildren: Nicholas Haffty of Woonsocket RI and Giana Moreno of Mendon MA; also many nieces & nephews in Milford and Italy. 

 

His funeral, with Military Honors, will be held Saturday (May 6th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Saturday morning (May 6th) from 9:30am to 10:30am, prior to his Funeral Mass.
