Mrs. Susan L. (Iadarola) Pilla, 97, of Yarmouth Port MA and formerly of Milford MA, died Sunday (October 7, 2018) surrounded by her loving family at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Pilla, who died in 1984 and the beloved mother of the late Joan Hansen, who died in 2006.
Mrs. Pilla was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Agostino and the late Madeline (Riccio) Iadarola. She was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1939. She was first employed as a young woman at The Children’s Shop, located on Main Street in Milford MA. She later worked at the Scanzarolli Market and at GE-Timex in Ashland MA.
Mrs. Pilla had been a resident of Milford for most of her life and upon her retirement in 1984 she moved to West Dennis MA.
As she was known by many, Mammy’s greatest accomplishment was her devotion to her family and loved ones. She enjoyed the many hours spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren doing crafts, baking treats and telling stories. Her knitting, crocheting and sewing skills were appreciated by all who received gifts made by Mammy.
After her retirement, Susan became involved in her Cape Cod life. She volunteered at the Kennedy Center and the Melody Tent in Hyannis MA. She became an avid golfer and bowler, becoming a member of the Dennis Niners and weekly bowling league. Susan was active in many activities including the Garden Club, Dennis Library, weekly exercises and playing bridge with her friends. Susan loved her daily walks on West Dennis Beach.
Mrs. Pilla is survived by her 2 Daughters: Sharyn Pilla of Yarmouth Port MA and Geraldine, wife of Michael Noferi of Milford MA; her Son-in-law: Rawley Hansen of Brockton MA; 6 Grandchildren: Dawn Denizkurt of Plainville MA, Susan, wife of John Colgan of West Yarmouth MA, Janel, wife of Glenn Pudelka of Millis MA, Jon Hansen and his wife Amy of Medway MA, Jennifer, wife of Zachary Brown of Milford MA, Matthew Noferi and his wife Lauren of Milford MA; 12 Great Grandchildren: Maxx Denizkurt, Jaclyn Colgan, Samantha Colgan, Madeline Pudelka, Benjamin Pudelka, Reagan Hansen, Taylor Hansen, William Brown, Andrew Brown, Jonathan Brown, Maggie Noferi and Quinn Noferi; also many nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Pilla was the sister of the late Vincent Iadarola; the late Louise Quenneville and the late Theresa Serrano.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday (October 13th) at 12 NOON at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. Burial of her cremains will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Saturday (October 13th) from 11am to 12 Noon, prior to her Funeral Services.
