William J. Balmelli

Mr. William J. Balmelli, 86, of Milford MA, died early Sunday morning (August 13, 2017) at his residence after an illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret T. (O’Brien) Balmelli, who died in 2011.

 

Mr. Balmelli was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Andrew and the late Angelina (Pedroli) Balmelli. He was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1948 and also a graduate of Northeastern University, Class of 1953.

 

Mr. Balmelli was a Korean Conflict veteran having served in the US Navy. He had been employed for many years at Arcon Corporation located in Waltham MA, retiring as controller in 1995. He also had been employed at Charles River Associates located in Cambridge MA.

 

Mr. Balmelli was a former member of the Board of Directors at the Milford Federal Savings & Loan Association. He was also a former member of the Milford Zoning Board of Appeals and a former member of the Milford Planning Board.  He was also a member of the Plains Association.

 

Mr. Balmelli was an avid candlepin bowler and an avid bocce ball player. He also was an avid woodworker who liked to design & make his own furniture.

 

He is survived by his 6 children: James Balmelli and his wife Renee of Pascoag RI, Edward Balmelli and his husband Michael Horgan of Jamaica Plain MA, Marie, wife of Bruce Garozzo of Milford MA, Nancy, wife of David Mather of Green Bay WI, Ann, wife of James O’Connor of Milford MA and David Balmelli and his wife Jessica of Lake Forest IL; 10 Grandchildren: Lindsay Mather, Kasey Mather, wife of Fabiel Campos, Andrew & Jenna Garozzo, Kerrin & Thomas O’Connor, Josette, Devin, Hannah & Harriet Balmelli; also several nieces & nephews.

 

His funeral, with Military Honors, will be held Friday (August 18th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (UPPER CHURCH), 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Thursday (August 17th) from 5pm to 8pm.
