Mr. Dana W. Hanchett Jr., 79, of Milford MA, died Sunday (October 15, 2023) at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Zanotti) Hanchett.
Dana was born in New Bedford MA, the son of the late Dana W. Hanchett Sr. and the late Mildred E. (Sturtevant) Hanchett. He was a graduate of Framingham High School. He was also a graduate of Coyne Electrical/Technical High School in Boston MA in 1963.
Dana had been employed for many years in the computer industry working for 32 years at Xerox Corporation. Later in life he had been employed at Jen's Transportation, where he transported special needs students, a calling that brought him great joy.
Dana was also a proud member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard, having served from 1965 to 1971. He had been a resident of Milford MA for the past 49 years and prior to that had resided in Framingham MA and Dover MA.
Dana loved car racing, especially drag races & NASCAR. He enjoyed camping in Maine, traveling to Italy, visiting various family members and long drives with his wife Maria. He especially liked walking his beloved dogs.
Along with his beloved wife of 49 years, he is survived by his 2 children: Staci M. Hanchett of Milford MA and Christina M. "Chrissy" Hanchett and her husband Ben Imhof of Uxbridge MA; also the greatest joys of his life his 3 grandchildren: Isabel Hanchett-Lopez, Mariana Lopez and Joshua Imhof; his sister: Ruth Sinclair-Stephens of Plainville CT; also several nieces & nephews.
Dana was the brother of the late Richard Hanchett.
Funeral Services will be held Friday (October 20th) at 11:00am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Tarcisius Cemetery in Framingham MA. A visiting hour will be held Friday morning (October 20th) from 10am to 11am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to his Funeral Services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to M.S.P.C.A. – Angel, Attention: Donations, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston MA 02130 or to Salmon VNA & Hospice, 37 Birch Street, Milford MA 01757.
