Obituary

Mrs. Florence M. (Mahoney) Dugan, 93, of Milford MA died Friday (October 23, 2020) at UMASS-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester MA after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late William B. Dugan, who died in 2010.

Florence was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Jeremiah T. and the late Mary "Mae" E. (Roche) Mahoney and was a lifelong resident of Milford.

Florence graduated from the former St. Mary's High School in 1944, and then graduated from Becker College in Worcester MA. Florence was employed at the Central Massachusetts Lung Association in Worcester as Office Manager and Campaign Director for thirty-eight years, retiring in 1985.

Florence was a longtime communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, where she enjoyed an active role in the parish, assuming many leadership and committee roles over the years. In addition to serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Florence was Secretary and President of the former St. Mary's Catholic Womens Club, a member of the St. Mary's Parish Council and the Friends of the Old St. Mary's Cemetery Committee, the St. Mary's Cemetery Road Committee, and she worked regularly on the Bishop's Fund drive.

Florence and her late husband Bill owned and operated the Milford Travel Club for over forty-five years, sharing their great love of travel with their many friends and clients. She was also a member of the Irish Round Tower Club of Greater Milford.

Florence leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was pre-deceased by her dear sister Anna Luibly, who died in 2017.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday (October 28th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12PM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (UPPER CHURCH), 7 East Main Street, Milford MA due to the ongoing renovations at St. Mary's Church in Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Wednesday (October 28th) from 10:30am to 11:30am, prior to her Funeral Mass. Social distancing protocols & use of face masks will be required for all facets of the funeral services.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary of the Assumption Church Renovation Fund, c/o St. Mary's Church Offices, 17 Winter Street, Milford MA 01757.
