Mr. James G. Daley Sr., 84 of Hopkinton MA died Wednesday (March 12, 2025) at Beaumont Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation in Westborough MA after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Donna M. (Rand) Daley.
Jim was born in Middletown NY, the son of the late James H. Daley and the late Helen M. (Strubble) Daley. He was a graduate of the former St. Mary's High School in Milford MA, Class of 1958.
In 1960 Jim began working for the former New England Telephone Company, where he worked for six years. From there he achieved a journeyman's & master electrician's license. He also obtained a construction supervisor & master pipefitter's license. With those licenses in hand he began his career with J. G. Daley Electric & Refridgeration Construction Inc.
While operating his company, Jim was involved with the operations of Ice Houses in Milford, Brockton & Brookline; operations of the Tennessee Gas Company; operations of Air Products Inc. located in Hopkinton MA; operations of N.E. Shrimp Company; operations at Harpoon Brewery; operations at Foster-Forbes and at Au Bu Bon. After forty-five years of dedication to his clients he decided to retire.
Jim grew up in Milford MA and had resided in Whitinsville MA also. For the past forty-three years he had been a resident of Hopkinton MA. He was a member of the Maspenock Rod & Gun Club, the Gravely Tractors Club of America and the NRA. He loved to vacation in Bermuda, the Bahamas & Marco Island FL.
Along with his beloved wife, he is survived by his son: James G. Daley Jr. of Seattle Washington; his daughters: Holly Marie Daley and her husband Steve Barney and their children Stephaney Barney & Remi Barney of Sterling MA and LynnErin Daley and her partner Matt Lane and their son Brayden Lane of Petosky MI; his step-son: Paul R. Lorentzen Jr. and his wife Tiffany L. Lorentzen and their sons Reed Lorentzen III and Riley Lorentzen of South Grafton MA; his sister Helen Hildreth of Dennis MA; also several nieces & nephews.
Jim was the brother of the late Mary Marley; the late Walter Daley; the late Michael Daley and the late Thomas "Ted" Daley.
Relatives & friends are invited to extend their condolences to Jim's family on Tuesday (March 18th) from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA, followed by a Prayer Service at 6:00pm. A collation for family & friends will be held immediately after the Prayer Service. In accordance with his wishes cremation will follow the Prayer Service.
