Jeanette P. (Twitchell) Maher, 97, of Hopedale MA passed away Monday, July 20, 2026, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester MA after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Laurence T. Maher who passed away in 2020.

Jeanette was born in Boston MA, the daughter of the late George and Dorothy (McDermott) Twitchell. She attended Swampscott MA public schools as a young girl and was a graduate of Ursuline Academy in Boston. She then attained her bachelor's degree in education from Emmanuel College and her Master's Degree in Educational Administration from the former Boston State College.

Jeanette began her teaching career at Sacred Heart Academy in Worcester MA. She later joined the Milford public school system where she served as an educator and administrator for many years until her retirement.

Jeanette is survived by her 6 children: Patricia Moriarty (Daniel) of South Deerfield MA, Sheila Dworkin (Paul) of West Hartford CT, Kathleen Maher (Bernard McDaid) of Johns Island SC, Moira Larson (Ronald) of Northbridge MA, Julie Stanas (Ronald) of Hopedale MA and Ann Fahey (P. Michael) of Hopedale MA; her 9 grandchildren: Bridget, Brendan, Molly, Eamon, Trevor, Erin, Lily, Dillon and McKenzie; her 6 great grandchildren: Thomas, Hannah, Fiona, Kieran, Reis and Greta; as well 3 cherished nephews.

Jeanette was predeceased by her son, L. Timothy Maher and her granddaughter, Frances Fahey.

Jeanette will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a dedicated educator who touched the lives of countless students throughout her career. She will be deeply and forever missed.

Relatives and friend are invited to extend their condolences to Jeanette's family on Saturday, August 8th from 11am-12noon, at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA.  Following the wake, a private burial will take place at Hopedale Cemetery.
