Mr. John J. Kelley Jr., 84, of Milford MA, died unexpectedly on Saturday (March 31, 2018) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after being stricken at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean M. (Cecchi) Kelley, who died in 2013.

Mr. Kelley was born in Milford MA, the son of the late John J. and the late Agnes B. (Gaffney) Kelley. He attended Milford public schools, graduating from Milford High School, Class of 19 51. He also attended Bentley School of Accounting from 1951 to 1953.

Mr. Kelley was an accomplished baseball and basketball player while in high school. He was a Korean Conflict veteran having served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. Following his military service he began a forty year career working for Verizon, retiring in 1996.

Mr. Kelley was a longtime member of the Italian-American Veterans Post #40 of Milford and also a member of the Marchegiano Club of Milford. He was an avid sportsman and Boston Red Sox fan. But most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

Mr. Kelley is survived by his son: John M. Kelley and his wife Marybeth of Milford MA; his daughter: Tara, wife of Steven Cafarella of Milford MA; 6 grandchildren: Michael Cafarella, Megan Cafarella, Caitlyn Cafarella, Matthew Kelley, Ryan Kelley and Jillian Kelley; also nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Patricia M. Kelley, who died in 2010.

His funeral will be held Wednesday (April 4th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Wednesday from 8:30am to 9:30am, prior to his Funeral Mass.
