Mr. John J. Parker, 82, of Milford MA, died Saturday evening (March 13, 2021) at his residence after an illness. He was the beloved wife of Sandra E. (York) Parker.
Jack was born in Milford MA, the son of the late John S. and the late Gertrude E. (Smith) Parker. He was a graduate of the former St. Mary's Central Catholic High School, Class of 1956.
Jack was first employed at Stobbarts Nurseries located in Franklin MA and at the Herman Shoe Company located in Millis MA. He later worked for twenty-seven years at the General Motors assembly plant in Framingham MA, retiring in 1991.Jack was a Viet Nam Era US Army veteran having served from 1962 to 1964.
Jack was a lifelong resident of Milford MA and was a member of the Central Massachusetts Baseball Umpires Association; the American Bowling Congress; and a longtime member of "the Water Street Gang". He had also volunteered for years as a Milford Little League coach.
Along with his beloved wife of fifty-six years, he is survived by his son: John J. Parker Jr. and his wife Debbie of Bellingham MA; his daughter: Karen A. Coakley and her husband Jimmy of Medway MA; his grandson: Hunter Parker of Bellingham MA; and several nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Elizabeth Guerin.
Due to theCOVID-19 restrictions and the family's overwhelming concern for the wellbeing of family members & friends a Private Funeral will be held from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday (March 17th) at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Milford MA. There are no funeral home visiting hours. Social distancing protocols & use of face masks will be required for all facets of the funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Oliva Family Cancer Comfort Fund, c/o the Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation, 14 Prospect Street, Milford MA 01757.
