Obituary

Mrs. Marilyn E. (Henkes) Douglas, 86, of Hopedale MA died late Thursday evening (December 1, 2022) at The Reservoir Center for Health & Rehabilitation in Marlborough MA after a period of declining health.

Marilyn was born in Cooperstown NY, the daughter of the late Edward B. Henkes and the late Mary E. (Chase) Henkes. She was a graduate of high School in Norwich NY.

Marilyn was first employed as a young woman as a secretary at various companies in upstate New York. She later worked as a secretary for 22 years for the Bellingham Public School Department, retiring in June of 1997.

Marilyn had a keen interest in antiques and stained glass work. She also liked woodworking.

Marilyn was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Hopedale MA and had volunteered for years at the church's soup kitchen & the church's Thrift Store.

Marilyn is survived by her loving son: Peter J. Alotta Jr. of Blackstone MA; her 2 grandchildren: Kathrine F. Alotta and her husband Kyle Darling of Killingly CT & Peter J. Alotta III and his fiancée Shayla Shedin of Blackstone MA; also several nieces & nephews.

Marilyn was the sister of the late Rosalyn Scheuerman of Ballston Spa NY.

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale MA on SATURDAY (December 31st) at 12 NOON. Burial of her cremains in Union Cemetery in Edmeston NY will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours.
