Mr. Michael A. Gaffney, 23, of Milford MA, died unexpectedly on Thursday (May 9, 2019) in St. Petersburgh FL. He was the beloved son of Ernest J. Gaffney and Maureen K. (Phillips) Candalerio.
Michael was born in Milford MA and attended school in Mendon MA. He had been employed as a security guard at Gillette Stadium, and had also worked for Domino's Pizza. He loved spending time with his friends and family, being outdoors, fishing, and gaming. He enjoyed taking vacations down to Florida and loved spending time at the beaches. Michael especially loved accompanying Karissa Peach to her father & daughter school dances.
Michael is survived by his mother: Maureen (Phillips) Candalerio of Woonsocket RI; his father: Ernest Gaffney and his step-mother, Darlene of Milford MA; his maternal grandmother: Meg McCleary of St. Petersburgh FL; his paternal grandmother: Julia Santucci of Plainville MA; his 3 siblings: Kyra, wife of David Hill of Millis MA, Ryan Gaffney of Worcester MA and Kyle Gaffney of St. Petersburgh FL; his step-sister: Brianna Gallant of Needham MA; his 2 half-brothers: Brett Bergeron and his wife Megan Stanley of Upton MA and Ernest Gaffney Jr of Plymouth MA.; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and his beloved Karissa Peach.
His funeral will be held Friday (May 17th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Thursday (May 16th) from 5pm to 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to https://www.gofundme.com/michael-gaffney-memorial-expenses , a fund to cover his memorial expense, any amounts above those costs will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
