Obituary

Mrs. Pauline F. (Gaffney) Roach Kell, 73, of Hopedale MA died Wednesday evening (November 3, 2021) at the Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge MA after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Albert Kell.

Pauline was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Charles A. and the late Margaret F. (Plouffe) Gaffney. She attended Hopedale public schools and also Mendon public schools. Later in life she also attended college in Pennsylvania as part of her employment certification requirements.

Pauline was first employed as a young woman at the former Porter Shoe Company located in Milford MA. While residing in Pennsylvania she had been employed as a mental health youth counselor at Hoffman House located in Gettysburg PA.

Pauline loved to go fishing & hunting. She also loved the outdoors, all kinds of wild life and birds. She also loved painting and the arts & crafts.

Pauline is survived by her 2 children: Robert James Roach III of Boston MA and Sandra, wife of Marc Simmler of Uxbridge MA; her 3 siblings: Julia E. Gaffney of Franklin MA, Charles F. Gaffney of Milford MA and Richard M. Gaffney and his wife Arlene of Bellingham MA; several nieces & nephews including Charlene Thompson of Milford MA and Kelly J. Gaffney of Bellingham MA; also her former husband: Robert J. Roach II of Woonsocket RI.

Pauline was the sister of the late Margaret F. Falvey and the late Emma M. Flaherty.

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. Her funeral will be held Wednesday (November 17th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale MA. Burial of her cremains will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held Wednesday (November 17th) from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to her Funeral Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute @ Milford Regional Medical Center, c/o the Cancer Care Fund  @ Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation, 14 Prospect Street, Milford MA 01757.
