Obituary

Mr. Phillip R. Delphos Jr., 89, of Hopedale MA died Sunday (March 23, 2025) at Blaire House of Milford Assisted Living after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara A. (Niederberger) Delphos who died this past January.

Phillip was born in Worcester MA, the son of the late Phillip R. Delphos Sr. and the late Hortense (Frechette) Delphos. He attended Worcester public schools as a young boy and graduated from high school in Worcester MA. He then went on to attain his bachelor's degree from University of Pennsylvania, Class of 1958.

Phillip then proudly went on to serve in the US Army from 1958 to 1962, serving part of his time stationed in the United Kingdom in England. Following his tour of duty in the US Army he attained his MBA from Babson College in 1968.

Phillip was proud of his lifelong career working for the Dennison Manufacturing Company located in Framingham MA, which later became Dennison-Avery.

Phillip and his late wife Barbara were avid sports fans and loved watching all kinds of sporting events no matter what the sport. He also loved to travel with his late wife Barbara in their retirement years. He also loved to listen to all kinds of music, especially jazz music. Due to his military service in England, he became a huge fan of British comedy. He also loved shopping for a "good deal" and was known for his ability to strike up a conversation with anybody, even someone he had just met for the first time.

Phillip is survived by his 2 sons: Scott Delphos and his wife Mary of Douglas MA and Paul Delphos and his wife Melanie of Virginia Beach VA; his 3 granddaughters: Emily Delphos of Douglas MA, Julie Delphos of Biddeford ME and Amelia Delphos of Arlington VA; his brother: William Delphos and his wife Betsy of VA; his sister: Suzanne Scutt of CT; also several nieces & nephews.

Phillip was the brother of the late Peter Delphos.

In accordance with his wishes a Private Graveside Committal Service will be held at Hopedale Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
