Alberta M. (Calarese) Lachina

Alberta M. (Calarese) Lachina, 86, of Hopedale MA died Friday evening (September 29, 2023) at Countryside Healthcare of Milford after a period of declining health.

Alberta was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Americo Calarese and the late Eva (LaChapelle) Calarese. She attended Hopedale public schools, graduating from Hopedale High School, Class of 1955. She was also a graduate of Framingham State University where she received her bachelor’s degree and also received her master’s degree from Regis College.

Alberta had been employed as a school teacher at Hopedale High School for thirty years and had been a resident of Hopedale MA for most of her life. The last few years she had resided in Franklin MA.

Alberta is survived by her son: David Lachina and his wife Jennifer of  Putnam CT; her 3 grandchildren: Merit, Auden & Aidan; her 3 brothers: Roger V. Calarese and his wife Catherina of Franklin MA, A. Richard Calarese of Uxbridge MA and David Calarese of Bass River MA; also several nieces & nephews.

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on THURSDAY (October 5th)  at 10am at Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale MA. A PRIVATE COMMITTAL SERVICE for family members only will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery. There are no funeral home visiting hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family highly encourages that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
