Aldo Cecchi Jr. Obituary

Mr. Aldo L. Cecchi Jr., 80, of Milford MA died Friday (June 10, 2022) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after an illness. He was the beloved husband of Judith A. (Giacomelli) Cecchi.

 

Aldo was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Aldo L. Cecchi and the late Fannie M. (DiCesare) Cecchi. He attended Milford public schools and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1959. He also was a graduate of Worcester State College where he attained his bachelor’s degree. He later attained his master’s degree & his CAGS from Assumption College.

 

Aldo was a Viet Nam Era US Navy veteran, serving in the submarine service, and had served on the USS Piper submarine.

 

Aldo began his accomplished career in the field of education working as a teacher and football coach at Milford High School. He then worked as a teacher at the Blackstone-Millville Regional High School, working his way up as teacher, guidance counselor & director, then to assistant principal, then to principal & finally retiring as Superintendent of the Blackstone-Millville Region school system in 2001. In his early years Aldo had also served as a basketball referee & baseball umpire for various high schools in the greater Milford area.

 

Aldo was a lifelong resident of Milford MA and a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church where he served the church as an acolyte and also a valued member of the church’s finance committee. He was also a member of the Hoboken Citizens Club and the Marchegiano Club, both of Milford MA.

 

Aldo also devoted his time to the community of Milford MA by serving as a former member of the Milford School Committee; a former member of the Town of Milford Board of Selectmen and a former member of the Milford Finance Committee. He also had served as co-chair of the Woodland School Building Committee.

 

Aldo also had spearheaded the construction of the new Millville Middle School and was involved in the addition of the John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Blackstone MA. Aldo loved being involved in his community, but his favorite past-time was spending time with his five grandchildren.

 

Along with his beloved wife of 55 years, he is survived by his 2 children: Carla, wife of Steven Antonellis of Milford MA and Maria, wife of Joseph Pedorella of Blackstone MA; his 5 grandchildren: James Antonellis, Nicolas Antonellis, Cristina Pedorella, Marissa Pedorella & Anthony Pedorella; also his brother: Francis A. Cecchi of Milford MA.

 

His funeral will be held Tuesday (June 14th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (UPPER CHURCH), 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow, with Military Honors, in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Tuesday (June 14th) from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to his Funeral Mass.
