Mr. Alfred L. Foglio, 90, of Milford MA died Friday (July 22, 2022) at his residence after an illness. He was the beloved husband of Clementina “Tina” (Ghelli) Foglio.
Alfred was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Fred Foglio and the late Dalie (Rappazzini) Foglio. He attended Milford public schools and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1949. He also attended Worcester Boys Trade School.
Alfred was first employed as a young man at the former Eddy’s Esso Gas Station located in the Plains Section of Milford. He later worked at Slide A Units located in Holliston MA which later became Atlantic Pre-Hung Doors located in Concord MA, where he became vice president & general manager.
Alfred was also a US Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Alfred was a lifelong resident of Milford MA and a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He was also a longtime member of the Italian-American Veterans Post #40 of Milford and had been honored by the post with one of their “Man of the Year” Awards.
Alfred was also a longtime member of the American Legion and had served as a member, for over thirty years, of the John W. Powers Post #59 American Legion Baseball Team Board of Directors, where he had served as vice president. He was also member of the No Name Club and a participant for many years in the Missile Golf League. Alfred was also the longest participating member of the Milford Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
Along with his beloved wife of sixty-seven years, he is survived by his four children: Joseph Foglio and his wife Lori of Swarthmore PA, Stephen Foglio and his wife Brenda of Indianapolis IN, Alfred Foglio and his wife Anita of London UK and Maria Levine and her husband James of Westborough MA; his nine grandchildren: Anthony Foglio and Sophia Foglio of Swarthmore PA, Luca Foglio and Theo Foglio of Indianapolis IN, Zachary Levine and Nicole Levine of Westborough MA, and Nicolo Foglio, Mila Foglio and Carlo Foglio of London UK; also his brother: Richard Foglio of Milford MA and several nieces & nephews.
His funeral will be held Wednesday (July 27th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (UPPER CHURCH), 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be Tuesday (July 26th) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
