Alice M. Knowlton

Alice M. Knowlton, 88, of Milford MA died Thursday (May 21, 2026) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.

Alice was born in Needham MA, the daughter of the late Donald B. Knowlton and the late Ila Jean (Myers) Knowlton. She attended Needham public schools and was a graduate of Needham High School. She also attained her associate’s degree from Newbury Junior College.

Alice spent most of her life as a social advocate for the wellbeing of special needs children and the less fortunate in society. She was an ardent proponent of the Democratic Party’s policies towards the unfortunate members of our society and had even worked as an accountant for a social services group.

Alice is survived by her 4 children: Marie Palomares and her husband William of Milford MA, Wayne Semmel and his wife Robin of Oregon, Brian Semmel and his wife Kathy of Vermont and Henry Semmel of New Hampshire; and her 5 grandchildren: Joshua Palomares, Tyler Semmel, Tracy Semmel, Kara Semmel and Jessica Semmel.

Alice was the mother of the late Paul A. Semmel and the grandmother of the late William A. Palomares.

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. There are no formal funeral services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA.
