Obituary

Ann Theresa Maietta, 86, of Milford, MA peacefully passed away Thursday (June 15, 2023) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.

 

Ann, more commonly known as Anna, was born in Milford, the daughter of the late Michele A. Maietta and the late Mary C. (Tosches) Maietta. She attended the Milford Public Schools.

 

Anna was first employed as a young woman at the former Porter Shoe Company located in Milford and at the former Kartiganer’s Hat Shop, located in Upton. Following that she had been employed at GE-Telechron Corporation located in Ashland. For the majority of her life she was a devoted homemaker & mother and for many years she served as a “Nanny” for various family members & dear friends.

 

Anna was a lifelong resident of Milford and a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford. She was faithful to her favorite charities including the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

 

In her younger years, Anna enjoyed spending time at the Maietta’s King Neptune Hotel in Hampton Beach, NH that her late brother, Nicholas Maietta owned and operated. There she enjoyed playing poker, going to the beach, and listening to music at the bandstand with her family. She also loved her summer vacations spent on Cape Cod with her daughter and granddaughter.

 

Anna could often be found sitting with a group of friends and family at the gathering spot in the front yard of her house, or sitting in her favorite chair at the kitchen table drinking a cup of coffee. Anna’s kitchen was welcome to all her loved ones and was open any time day or night. Anna had a love for cooking and baking. It was her passion to cook abundant meals for everyone she loved. She especially enjoyed baking her Italian cookies which she was well known for.

 

In her later years, Anna loved spending time cuddling on the couch with her grand-puppy Brandy on her lap to keep her warm. Anna will be remembered for her soft heart and strong will. She was incredibly honest, generous, and easy going. She was devoted to her family and was loved and cherished by all who knew her.

 

Anna is survived by her loving daughter: Debra A. Matos of Milford; her beloved granddaughter: Marissa T. Matos and her fiancé Drew Lorenzo of Milford; her nieces & nephews: Maureen Marchand, Linda Pray, Dianne Hoffmaster, Richard Brothers, Marc Maietta, Lucia Fulginiti, Vance Maietta, Brian Maietta, Michelle Crossen, Dennis Maietta and Victoria Houston. Anna is also survived by many grandnieces & grandnephews; as well as her sister-in-law: Linda Maietta of Milford.

 

Anna was the sister of the late Anthony Maietta, the late Nicholas Maietta, the late Marie Sproles, the late Josephine Sproles, the late Michael Maietta, and the late Victor Maietta. She was also the aunt of the late Denise Brothers and the late David Sproles.

 

Her funeral will be held Friday (June 23rd) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main Street, Milford, MA. In accordance with her wishes cremation will follow and a Private Committal Service of her cremains will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford, MA at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening (June 22nd) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN38105-9959.
