Mr. Anthony J. Bonfiglio, 92, of Medway MA and formerly of Brighton MA, died Monday evening (February 23, 2009) at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick MA after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Catherine E. (Dillon) Bonfiglio, who died in 1991. Mr. Bonfiglio was born in Boston MA, the son of the late Joseph and the late Rose (Caruso) Bonfiglio. He attended public schools in Boston as a young boy and was a graduate of high school in Boston. Mr. Bonfiglio was first employed as a young man for five years at the Quincy shipyard. Following that he began his career as a store manager in the grocery industry working for over thirty years in such locations as the Market Basket in Sharon MA, White's Market in Roslindale MA and Beacon Supermarket in Brookline MA, from which he retired. Mr. Bonfiglio had been a resident of Medway for the past six years and prior to that had resided in Brighton MA and the Jamaica Plains section of Boston. He had been a longtime communicant of the former St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church located in Brighton MA. Mr. Bonfiglio is survived by his 4 Children: Robert Bonfiglio of Mansfield MA, Rosemarie, wife of Randolph Guisti of Medway MA, Irene Ryan of Foxboro MA and Paul Bonfiglio of Martha's Vineyard MA; also 8 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; many nieces and nephews and his loving companion Gail Willis of Brighton MA. His funeral will be held Saturday (February 28th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Joseph Church, Medway MA. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury MA. Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 5pm to 8pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
