Arlene Martha (Wayland) Gaffney

Mrs. Arlene M. (Wayland) Gaffney,  73,   of Bellingham MA left this earth to heaven on Tuesday  (November 1, 2022) at the Milford Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was the beloved wife of Richard M. Gaffney.

Arlene was born in Woonsocket RI, the daughter of the late James H. & the late Bella (Ethier) Wayland. She was a graduate of Uxbridge High School, Class of 1967.

Arlene was first employed as a young woman at the Paul Revere Insurance Company located in Worcester MA. She later was employed as a nurse’s aide for over twenty years at the former Milford Geriatric Authority, now known as Countryside Healthcare of Milford.

Arlene was an avid reader and staunch fan of the Boston Red Sox & the New England Patriots. She was also an avid animal lover, especially cats & dogs.

Along with her beloved husband of fifty-one years, she is survived by her daughter: Kelly J. Gaffney of Bellingham MA; also survived by several nephews: including her two favorites, Mickey Flaherty & Milford Police Chief James Falvey; she is also survived by her best friend: Barbara Thayer.

Arlene was the sister of the late Karen Wayland of Uxbridge MA; the late Jimmy Wayland of Southborough MA and the late Robert Wayland of Uxbridge MA.

Her funeral will be held on Friday (November 4th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Mary’s Church, 77 Mendon Street (Rte 16), Uxbridge MA. Burial will follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery. A visiting hour will be held Friday morning (November 4th)  from 9:15am  to 10:15am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to her Funeral Mass.
