Barbara Margaret (Leland) Marques

Mrs. Barbara M. (Leland) Marques, 87, of Whitinsville MA died Friday (September 8, 2023) at the UMASS-Memorial Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel Marques.

Barbara was born in West Upton MA, the daughter of the late George Leland and the late Susie (Diomedes) Leland. She attended Upton grammar school and Grafton High School.

Barbara had been employed for many years as a cashier at the Milford Hospital. She grew up in Upton MA and had resided in Ohio for a number of years. She had been a resident of Northbridge MA since 1989.

Barbara had been a member of the Upton Bloomer Girls as a young woman. She loved going on trips to the casino, where she loved to play Bingo and also the slot machines.

Barbara is survived by her daughter: Deborah Grenier and her husband Donald Grenier of Dayville CT; her son-in-law: Milford Police Chief James Falvey of Northbridge MA; her daughter-in-law: Connie marques; her 10 grandchildren: James Falvey and his wife Rebecca of Plainfield CT, Ashley Falvey of Whitinsville MA, Ryan Falvey and his wife Jennifer of Northbridge MA, Amanda Falvey and her fiance Jared Wooster of Whitinsville MA, Shannon Falvey of Northbridge MA, Kristy Grenier of Plainfield CT, Kerrie Dragon of Plainfield CT, Natasha Boyack of California, Joshua Marques of California & Jason Marques of Hudson MA; her  great grandchildren: Parker Falvey, Charlie Falvey, Teigan Wooster, Madeline Falvey, Camile Falvey, Merric Dragon, Bryce Grenier Lucas Cabral & Lilly Brennard; her 4 siblings: Susan Bonina of Milford MA, Joan Bernardi of Florida, George Leland Jr. of Hudson MA & Richard Leland of Warwick RI; also several nieces & nephews.

Barbara was the mother of the late Sherry Lyn Falvey, who died in 2022; the mother of the late Stevie Marques; the mother of the late Daniel Marques Jr. and the sister of the late Robert Leland. Barbara was also the grandmother of the late Tanya Cabral.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday (September 13th) at 11:00AM at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. A Private Committal Service will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Upton MA. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday (September 12th) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
