Barry Burns Hawkins

Mr. Barry B. Hawkins, 88, of Milford MA died Monday (August 7, 2023) at Adviniacare @ Northbridge in Northbridge MA after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of April A. (Abusamra) Hawkins.

Barry was born in Cambridge MA, the son of the late Basil F. Hawkins and the late Gladys (Ramsdell) Hawkins. He attended Natick public schools and was a graduate of Natick High School.

Barry was first employed as a young man for Woolworth Company in Old Town Maine. Following that he began his successful career working as an insurance agent for John Hancock Life Insurance Company in their Framingham MA offices. He later owned & operated the Barry B. Hawkins Insurance Agency located in Milford MA for over 25 years.

Barry had also worked for years as a limousine driver for the former Yaz Limousine Service located in Milford MA and also as a funeral assistant at numerous funeral homes in the greater Milford area.

Barry was an avid “car guy” who owned several antique cars over the years. He also loved to attend various car shows in the greater Milford area.

Along with his beloved wife, he is survived by his daughter: Suzanne L. Carey of Milford MA; his grandchildren: Samantha E. Cheschi and Nicholas L. “Nikko” Cheschi of Milford MA; also several nieces & nephews, including Lisa Curran of Natick MA & O. W. Wikstrom of Charlton MA.

Barry was the father of the late Dawn B. Hawkins who died in 2022 and the brother of the late Mildred Wikstrom; the late Basil F. Hawkins Jr. and the late Clive Hawkins.

His funeral will be held Thursday (August 17th) at 1PM at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held Thursday (August 17th from 12pm to 1pm, prior to his Funeral Services.
