Bernice Gallerani Obituary

Mrs. Bernice L. (Van Alstine) Gallerani, 90, of Mendon MA died Thursday (April 4, 2024) at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence RI. She was the beloved wife of Ernest Gallerani Jr., who died in 1998.

 

Bernice was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Hobart Van Alstine and the late Mary D. (D’Agostino) Van Alstine. She attended the former St. Mary’s Grammar School and was a graduate of the former St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1951.

 

Bernice was a devoted housewife & mother for the majority of her life. She took great pride in the raising of her family. Later in life she worked part time as a cook at St. Mary’s rectory in Milford MA.

 

Bernice loved to cook and also loved tending to her garden. She also was a lover of all kinds of animals, especially of dogs & horses. She, along with her late husband Ernest, owned & operated a thoroughbred horse farm located in Wrentham MA, from 1970 to 1985.

 

Bernice is survived by her 3 children: Jean Hill of Hopedale MA, Richard J. “Dick” Gallerani and his wife Victoria Gallerani of Cody WY and Donna McFearin and her husband Patrick McFearin of Boylston MA; her 6 grandchildren: Douglas Hill, Briana Lima and her husband Ricardo Lima, Jennifer Seaman and her husband Matthew Seaman, Richard “Jake” Gallerani Jr. and his wife Heather, Scott Thomas and Marylee Yost and her husband Kyle Yost; her 8 great grandchildren: Hannah, Gianna, Giada, Gemma, Annabella, Fiora, Natalie and Lia; her 4 sisters: Mary Lou Usher of Mendon MA, Barbara Van Alstine of Milford MA, Elizabeth Oliva of Whitinsville MA and Donna Collins of Milford MA; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

 

Bernice was the mother of the late Ernest Gallerani III, who died in December of 2023.

 

In accordance with her wishes cremation will take place. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on TUESDAY (April 9th) at 10am in Sacred Heart Church, 187 Hopedale Street, Hopedale MA. A Private Committal Service of her cremains will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no funeral home visiting hours.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence RI 02904.
