Mr. Dana R. Fontecchio, 74, of Upton MA and formerly of Milford MA died Saturday (February 12, 2022) at Beaumont Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation in Westborough MA after an illness.
Dana was born in Milford MA, the son of Raymond and Leona (Murray) Fontecchio. He attended Milford public schools, graduating from Milford High School, Class of 1965. He was also a graduate of Bridgeton Academy in Maine, Class of 1966. Dana then continued his education and athletic accomplishments at Boston University.
Dana had been a resident of Milford MA for most of his life and had recently moved to Upton MA.
Dana had been employed for over 40 years as an insurance broker at the Karl A Bright Insurance Agency located in Milford MA.
Dana was recently inducted into the Milford High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He enjoyed a glass of full bodied red wine and loved to cook for friends and family members. He also loved walking along the shore on beaches.
Dana was also instrumental in establishing The Elia P. Fontecchio Memorial Fund, in honor of his late nephew.
Dana is survived by his three siblings: Dennis Fontecchio and his wife Cindy of Satelite Beach FL, Jane Pellegri and here husband George of Franklin MA and Peter Fontecchio and his wife Patricia of Truro MA; also his former wife & best friend: Barbara J. (Allen) Fontecchio of Upton MA; and several nieces & nephews.
Dana was the brother of the late Jeffrey Fontecchio who died in 1970.
His funeral will be held Saturday (February 19th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (UPPER CHURCH), 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be held Friday (February 18th) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
