Mrs. Dora A. (Cimino) Bernardi, 95, of Milford MA died late Saturday evening (July 23, 2022) at Genesis – Milford Center after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew A. Bernardi, who died in 2002.
Dora was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Salvatore Cimino and the late Antonette (Grillo) Cimino. She was predeceased by eight siblings.
Dora attended public schools, and with an eye for fashion, worked in ladies retail for over 50 years in both the Milford and Framingham areas. In fact, she was working for Jordan Marsh on the opening day of Shoppers World in 1951. In her later years, Dora worked part-time and retired at age 79.
Dora was a lifelong resident of Milford MA and a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Women’s Club and a member of the Sicilian Club of Milford. Her favorite past-time was spending time with her beloved family, for whom she could not do enough. Her cooking, baking, and remembering everyone’s birthday was just the norm for Dora.
She is survived by her daughter: Andrea B., wife of Samuel V. “Chuck” Longo Jr. of Milford MA; her son: Albert “Bert” Bernardi and his husband Jim Johansmeyer of West Haven CT; her two grandchildren: Kevin Longo and his partner Anthony Shifflett of Reading MA and Keith Longo and his wife Lisa of Los Angeles CA; her two great grandchildren: Esme Longo and Griffin Longo of Melrose MA, and their mother, Rebecca Longo, who brought comfort to Dora’s last days.
Dora leaves several nieces and nephews, for whom she was a role model of grace and kindness. All who knew her will also remember her delicious Italian cookies.
Her funeral will be held SATURDAY (August 6th) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (UPPER CHURCH), 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. A visiting hour will be held SATURDAY morning (August 6th) from 9am to 10:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home prior to her Funeral Mass.
