Dorothy Cozzens Obituary

Dorothy M. Cozzens, 77, of Milford MA died unexpectedly on Tuesday (March 25, 2025) at her residence.

 

Dorothy was born in Milford MA, the daughter of the late Arthur E. Cozzens Sr. and the late Sylvia M. (Sainio) Cozzens. She attended Milford public schools as a young girl and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1965. She also attended Worcester State College.

 

Dorothy was first employed as a young woman as a manager at the former Jordan Marsh Company in Framingham MA and Braintree MA. She then was employed as a clerk at the Registry of Motor Vehicles from 1971 to 1973. Following that she was employed for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts –Department of Public Welfare, which later became the Department of Social Services, from 1973 to 2001, working in their Medway MA & Milford MA offices.

 

Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Milford MA and a longtime communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She was also a member of the church’s former Catholic Womens Club and was presently administering the church’s St. Vincent de Paul Society program services.

 

Dorothy was an avid reader, especially of murder mysteries. She also loved to watch British comedies and loved to do crossword puzzles.

 

Dorothy is survived by her 2 sisters: Catherine C. Iadarola and her husband Leonard of Milford MA and Sylvia M. Cozzens of Milford MA; her brother-in-law: Andrew Vail of Ashland MA; her niece: Jennifer A. Fortin and her husband George Fortin of Windham NH; her 2 nephews: Stephen Iadarola and his wife Becky of Grafton MA and Lt. Col. Michael Iadarola (USAF Retired) and his wife Chrissy of Roseville CA; also her grandnieces & grandnephews: George Fortin, Joseph Fortin, Jack Fortin, James Fortin, Matthew Iadarola, Nora Iadarola, Lily Iadarola and Grace Iadarola.

 

Dorothy was the sister of the late Arthur E. Cozzens Jr. who died in 1998 and the sister of the late Anne C. Vail who died this past February.

 

Her funeral will be held Monday (March 31st) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 NOON in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 19 Winter Street, Milford MA. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours  will be held Monday morning (March 31st) from 10:00am to 11:30am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to her Funeral Mass.
